Why do I do What I do?

June 2014
There are times in life where there are many changes, and for me this is one of them. I've gone from working full time to being a full time stay at home mom for a six week old baby girl, and a housewife. My husband just got promoted at work, which ended up putting him on the night shift. And to top it all off, we just bought our first home. With all of these major life changes, and the loss of one paycheck, I've got to be pretty creative to make ends meet, and get us out of debt. There is quite a lot to do in my kitchen as I experiment in different ways to pinch pennies, and pursue my passion for food. My first long term goal is to cut our monthly grocery bill down from $250 a month to $100, and keep it there as our family grows. I am going to do this by making from scratch as much as I can of the stuff I would normally buy, from applesauce to cheese to bacon. When we finish unpacking from the move (seriously, we moved this weekend), I am starting a garden to grow the fruits and vegetables we will eat. It will take a while, but I think we can do it. I'm sure there will be quite a few failed experiments in my kitchen, but that's half the fun, right?

July 2015
Life has changed quite a bit in the last year. The babe is no longer a babe, but a walking, talking toddler! The hubs has gotten a new job, and a MUCH better schedule. The house is unpacked, and mostly decorated. We are debt free! Huzzah! (Anybody else want to help me bring this statement back from the grave?) I am still pinching pennies, even though I got a good raise in the grocery budget. Hey, I've got another human to feed, and the garden isn't doing what I'd hoped yet. My goals are still the same, but life is so very different. I'll keep you updated as life continues to change!
